Primary Focus and Description:
Main responsibilities will include leading a team of A&P Mechanics/Apprentices to ensure efficient aircraft maintenance operations. This includes shop management, scheduling and productivity, troubleshooting, A&P Mechanic duties, and training.
Responsibilities:
Hangar Management and Scheduling:
- Manage a team of 5-10 mechanics/apprentices
- Set daily/weekly priorities for the team
- Schedule daily tasks and assign apprentices and mechanics accordingly
- Coordinate with Flight School Manager regarding maintenance and scheduling inspections
- Manage quality control and conduct QC checks.
- Communicate with management
Troubleshooting:
- Filter and address straightforward troubleshooting; escalate complex issues to D.O.M. (Director of Maintenance).
- Compile daily updates on maintenance tasks
Productivity:
- Ensure tasks are completed within set time frames to maintain productivity.
Mechanic Hiring and Training:
- Aid in the process of interviewing and hiring new mechanics/apprentices
- Demonstrate proper maintenance procedures
- Provide answers to procedural questions
- Monitor task completion and intervene as needed
- Conduct follow-ups after task completion
Special Projects
- Assist in special projects as required
Qualifications:
- Valid Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic License
- Must posses Inspection Authorization (IA)
- Current Drivers License with a clean record
- 5 years of experience in Aviation Maintenance
- One year prior team leadership or supervisory experience
- Leadership Skills: Ability to effectively lead and manage a team
- Problem solving ability: Strong troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve aircraft maintenance issues
- Organizational skills: Ability to manage hangar operations efficiently, prioritize tasks, and ensure compliance with maintenance schedules and safety protocols
Preferred Additional Skills
- Ability to interpret Government, FAA, and Company Aviation Safety regulations.
- Ability to read\interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and general aviation knowledge.
- Willingness to motivate and educate others
- Significant working knowledge of general aviation aircraft
- Experience in conflict resolution, team building and coaching skills
