Summary

This position is responsible for the oversight and management of airport operations, including communications, infrastructure, project management, and lease management. This position is also responsible for adherence to safety standards and serves as the primary airport contact for emergency response.

Essential Functions

Responsible for the management of day-to-day airport operations. Monitors airport operations for efficiency and compliance with federal, state, Village, and industry standards. Manages compliance with Airport Rules & Regulations and Minimum Standards and suggests changes to the same. Plans and implements airport procedures. Manages NOTAMs through Federal Aviation Administration channels.
Maintains airport records including tenant payments, aviation activity, and maintenance activity. Oversees management of leases of Airport properties and facilities. Ensures compliance with lease documents and agreements. Ensures accountability of Airport generated revenues.
Assists in the development and administration of immediate and long-range budgets. Ensures the department operates within the annual budget and directs the annual budget process for the department. Monitors expenditures and revenues. Forecasts spending, staffing and revenue levels and recommends equipment purchases. Researches, applies for and administers grants.
Manages marketing of the Airport to pilots, businesses, and the general public. Reviews and updates public information related to the Airport such as bulletin boards, the Village website, and Airport social media sites. Prepares the Airport News, press releases, ads, and other public information. Reviews outside sources of information on the Airport to ensure it is accurate.
Responsible for the planning and conduct of public events at the Airport. Attends planning meetings, coordinates activities of participants, and plans for the safety of the visitors and aviators involved in the event.
Directs initial emergency response operations while maintaining the safety of responding personnel, protection of property and resources, and reasonable use of resources. Coordinates Airport response in support of the incident commander. Suggests changes to Airport emergency plans as necessary.
Responsible for managing the Village’s health, safety and environmental compliance issues by assessing, identifying and correcting potential risks that may cause safety and/or security concerns for employees and visitors to Village property.
Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Aviation or Airport Management, Public Administration or a related field and five (5) years of aviation management experience, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities.
A valid driver’s license is required.
Accredited Airport Executive or Certified Member status from the American Association of Airport Executives is preferred.
Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
