Reporting to the department chair, the Assistant Professor position requires
teaching, scholarship, and service. The position is an academic 10 month tenure-track
appointment, and the salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and
experience.
Required Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in a field of science with a research emphasis in materials science (such as
Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, or Biomaterials and Biotechnology) or a closely
related field by August 1, 2025. - Commitment to teaching excellence in the undergraduate and graduate classroom.
- Ability to develop an externally funded research program in the area of materials science
that fully engages both graduate and undergraduate students. - Research specialization in an area of materials science (for example, solid state,
semiconductor, polymeric materials, bio- or renewable materials). - Willingness to support our current graduate programs as well as our future growth of
graduate programs. - Ability to work with a variety of populations.
- Effective written and spoken communication skills
- Willingness to engage with institutional student success initiatives.
- Commitment to engaging with best practice initiatives in instruction and pedagogy,
mentoring, and curriculum design and development. - Demonstrated commitment to advancing a strong and growing research and scholarship
agenda and producing research/creative activities appropriate to the discipline. - Participation and support of the activities and the mission of the Center for Advanced
Materials Science.

Considerations may be given to candidates who have:
- Post-doctoral experience
- Teaching experience
Proposed Salary
Commensurate with experience.
This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.
