The Airport Manager is responsible and accountable for the overall operations, maintenance, management and economic development of the City of Slidell municipal airport facility. The responsibility encompasses ensuring the efficient and safe function of all airport activities, including terminal operations, airfield operations, security protocols, citizen services, and specifically interfacing regularly with Airport Aviation consultants (Engineer of record), the State Aviation' s Office, the FAA Regional Office and the DOTD Aviation Division concerning funding and planning of capital projects, maintenance and upgrades. The Airport Manager shall become familiar with the Airport Master plan and economic development opportunities that drive expansion and growth for the city, parish and state. Work with community and business leaders and citizens to foster support for airport expansions and eliminate obstacles for making modifications to airport operations and marketing and expansions to the airport. Perform other duties as assigned by the Mayor and/or Chief of Staff.
Education: BS Degree in a related airport management, aviation, airport operations or business administration field is required. Certification as an Accredited Airport Executive (AAE) from the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) is desired. Seven to ten years of related experience in airfield management/operations and airfield economic development. Additional qualifications include excellent communication, leadership, and management skills.
