Position Description: Telecom Analyst – Network Operations Team
Position Review: Reporting to the IT Operations Manager - Telecom, The Telecom Analyst is responsible for providing exceptional and advanced technical telecom support across multiple platforms. The engineer is responsible for high level troubleshooting as well as collaborating with the wider teams who troubleshoots outages and respond to escalated requests in a timely manner. Telecom Analyst will maintain and expand the necessary knowledge and skills to perform the assigned duties as they evolve while providing exceptional support of our customers. The Telecom Analyst is also responsible for providing Quality Assurance activities on designs and installations completed by both external vendors and internal peers. Responsible for ensuring that all established and IT Network policies and procedures are followed and applied throughout the course of performing their duties.
Essential Job Duties: Develop and maintain an advanced understanding of use of technology. 2. Apply expert Telecom and troubleshooting abilities as a key member of a network support team while focusing on assigned specialties that could include, but are not limited to, VoIP, Analog/POTS, Cellular, Fax, Alarm System and Elevator Telephone lines, and various IT software applications. 3. Comprehensive hands-on experience deploying and troubleshooting Telecom Infrastructure. 4. Develops and tracks repeatable, value-added metrics for reporting and fault prevention. 5. Defines and documents issue root causes and recommends permanent remediation. 6. Work with IT associates and business partners to identify opportunities and adjust Telecom services accordingly. 7. Collaborate on the development of standards and operating procedures for related Telecom services. 8. Maintain consistent and professional customer service and communication with end users and IT associates. 9. Provide timely status as needed to end users and fellow IT associates when working to resolve an incident. 10. Assist IT management and senior IT technical staff in developing departmental service guidelines and operating procedures. 11. Works directly with senior IT and business leads to develop service strategies and objectives aligned with business outcomes and strategies. 12. Support IT Operations Manager - Telecom by ensuring that all information is updated, accurate and provides a clear understanding to how the service is performing. 13. Work with project teams to plan, deploy, and test all Telecom system installations and integrations. 14. Work directly with 3rd party telecom managed service providers coordinating support efforts, managing issues, and proactively addressing service projects, deficiencies, and initiatives. 15. Leverages technical knowledge and industry trends to provide ongoing process improvement and develop business opportunities. 16. Maintain advanced working technology knowledge. 17. Develop and maintain IT service area documentation – process and procedures. 18. Participate in special projects or stretch assignments as required; execute projects to improve systems and operations. 19. Provide technical assistance, guidance, and leadership to other analysts and IT associates 20. Work with vendors to develop quotes, gain approvals, and facilitate ordering of equipment, software, solutions, and consulting services given documented needs, policies, and best practices. 21. Collaborate with colleagues to identify and remediate issues. 22. Develop work processes and best practices and implement changes to streamline operations. 23. Tasks may include developing troubleshooting programs and supervising system modifications. 24. Other duties as assigned by Management.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Required education – B.A. or higher in IT associated fields of study or relevant experience. 2. Certifications – Certified Telecommunications Analyst, Network+, Certified VoIP Analyst preferred. 3. Required experience – Minimum 3 years’ experience or equivalent in IT, 1 years being directly Telecom focused. 4. Excellent computer skills necessary in Visio, PowerPoint Presentation, O365 and Teams 5. Excellent time management and organizational skills. 6. Detail-oriented, well-organized self-starter 7. Excellent analytical skills and the ability to apply them to the investigation of existing installations. 8. Experience working with 3rd party vendors. 9. Experience with 8x8 or similar VoIP providers is a big plus. 10. Technical expertise - Advanced level 11. Travel – 10%-20% travel required. 12. Weekend and after-hour work is to be expected for projects, or assignments, which necessitates activities that need to be accomplished occur when facilities are not operational. 13. Works independently with little day-to-day supervision. 14. Ability to support multiple efforts in parallel, in a high-matrix, fast-paced, multi-site organization experiencing rapid growth. 15. Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills, including written and oral communications. 16. Physical demands include standing, walking, or sitting for extended periods of time and bending, stooping, and maneuvering to locations of wires, computers, or network equipment and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds and frequent lifting of up to 10 pounds.
