Job Description:
The Senior Specialist, Systems Engineer (SE) performs technical planning, system integration, verification, and validation, and troubleshooting for total systems and or subsystems. The Sr. Specialist SE is part of a team that supports the requirements, design, development, test, and integration of complex, specialized hardware/software systems installed on ground and airborne communication platforms.
Essential Functions:
- Understand physical architectures incorporating voice, video, and data capability across multiple security domains.
- Review and evaluate electrical wiring diagrams to ensure design details trace to system requirements.
- Understand test, integration, verification, and validation planning.
- Write effective verification test procedures ensuring system performance and capabilities meet system requirements.
- Translate the voice of the customer into system level requirements.
- Perform requirement traceability.
- Develop and evaluate trade studies for accuracy and completeness.
- Write subsystem specifications based on system level requirements.
- Troubleshooting and multi-level testing for RF applications.
- Knowledge of requirement traceability methods and purpose, and systems engineering trade study process.
- Evaluate alternative solutions and establish preliminary system designs.
- Prepare effective presentations to communicate technical information to non-technical professionals.
- Written, oral, and presentation communication skills.
- Model-based systems engineering and simulation.
- Conducting verification testing.
- Working with subcontractors and U.S. Government customers.
- Developing, authoring, and implementing system test plans.
- Engineering efforts involve FAA-certified general category aircraft.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Requires strong knowledge of job area, typically obtained by a combination of education and experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree with six (6) years of hands-on experience with testing, integration, and verifying software and/or hardware in a multi-domain mobile airborne datalink, video, and voice systems environment.
- Graduate Degree with four (4) years of hands-on experience with testing, integration, and verifying software and/or hardware in a multi-domain mobile airborne datalink, video, and voice systems environment.
- In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience with testing, integration, and verifying software and/or hardware in a multi-domain mobile airborne datalink, video, and voice systems environment.
- Six (6) years of experience with Aircraft communication system integration and communications ground/flight test support.
- Six (6) years of experience with configuration and integration of aircraft RF and satellite communications systems, or cryptographic equipment.
- Must have an active Secret clearance at the time of hire.
- Must be a US Citizen.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Working knowledge of LAN and VOIP protocols to include IP routing.
- Knowledge of mission systems: EO/IR, Video, Networks, SI/EW, etc.
- Top Secret w/SCI clearance.
