We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Research Scientist with extensive experience using next-generation sequencing to join our team as a Genomics Specialist . The ideal candidate will have a strong background in NGS-based assay and process development, expertise in molecular biology, and a track record of success in developing NGS-based analysis pipelines for both existing and novel protocols. If you are a self-motivated individual who thrives in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, and who is passionate about using display technologies to discover and optimize new proteins, we encourage you to apply.
In this role you will:
- Develop an efficient pipeline for automated NGS library preparation (in conjunction with automation engineers).
- Build and maintain bioinformatics QC and analytical pipelines to support data generation goals.
- Leverage knowledge of current NGS landscape to inform selection and support strategic acquisition of key infrastructure.
- Supervise and train junior staff in the daily operation of a high-capacity sequencing facility.
- Work collaboratively with other scientists and research teams to integrate and apply high-throughput DNA-based technologies to enhance data generation efforts.
- Work with project team members to establish and maintain rigorous methods for sequence data annotation and documentation.
- PhD (or M.S. with 5+ years experience) in Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Synthetic Biology, Microbiology, or another relevant field.
- Strong knowledge of the state of the art in NGS methods, instruments, and data analysis techniques.
- Significant ability to work collaboratively with researchers from diverse fields, including computational and experimental biologists, and provide scientific guidance, support, and leadership as needed.
- Significant ability to prioritize and manage multiple concurrent projects and tasks.
- Advanced verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment and successfully communicate technical information.
- Familiarity with laboratory operations and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
Qualifications We Desire:
- Working knowledge of and experience with modern DNA assembly methods and high-throughput molecular cloning.
- Significant experience designing and/or building large variant gene libraries.
- Significant experience with high-throughput methods and automation.
- Significant experience with LIMS-like systems to support technical operations and documentation.
- Ability to distill complex, technical concepts for productive communication with vendors, program sponsors, community members, and other stakeholders.
- Significant experience with antibodies and/or related biomolecules.
- Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills.
