The Maintenance Manager is responsible to the Accountable Manager/Director of Maintenance for the overall operation of the Maintenance and Avionics Departments and, as such, will have the final authority in the releasing to service appliances and the component parts thereof. The Maintenance Manager is also responsible to the Accountable Manager/Director of Maintenance for the following functions of the Avionics and Maintenance Departments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
· The planning, direction, and coordination of activities within the department, and the planning of its activities in conjunction with other departments as required.
· Training and assisting of subordinates in the proper work procedures and practices to be followed.
· Assigns qualified and authorized personnel to perform maintenance and return to service on aircraft and articles worked by the repair station.
· In the absence of the Director of Maintenance / Accountable Manager, the Maintenance Manager will assume the duties and roles as required.
· Making available to personnel the required technical data on all articles maintained and repaired while keeping the data current with latest revision. The data will include manufacturers’ maintenance manuals, overhaul manuals, and service bulletins.
· Parts specifications, related Federal Aviation Administration approved data, and any other technical data used. Assuring that the repair and overhaul of all articles and components within the repair stations jurisdiction is accomplished in compliance with the repair station ratings.
· Ascertaining that the responsible Technicians properly execute all necessary maintenance entries on maintenance forms and work orders used by the Repair Station.
· The preservation of all units or parts that process through the United Aviate Academy Shop until all work is completed.
· Initiating purchase orders for stock as required.
· The proper storage of all required service records.
· Provide for continuity of inspection responsibility, assuring completion of required inspections when personnel shift or assignment changes occur.
Qualifications
Experience
- Minimum ten years of experience in maintaining aircraft with verifiable practical experience as an active aircraft mechanic in a maintenance organization.
- Minimum of three years of experience in a supervisory/manager position in a maintenance organization.
- Minimum of five years of experience in a Part 145 environment.
- Must have a thorough working knowledge and understanding of FARs, aircraft technical bulletins, service bulletins, airworthiness directives, aircraft systems, and the ability to communicate this knowledge to the required persons.
- Previous Maintenance Management experience is preferred.
- Experience with Cirrus and Diamond aircraft maintenance is preferred.
- FAA Airframe and Power Plant Certification (A&P)
- Must have and maintain a valid driver license and must meet the company's vehicle insurance requirements.

- Ability to effectively interact and tactfully communicate with various Regulatory Agencies personnel, both in person and in writing.
- Must possess the ability to manage high stress levels effectively and demonstrate dynamic adaptability in a fast-paced work environment.
- Must be skilled in managing a team of over 50 employees, effectively utilizing an established hierarchical structure to ensure efficient team operations and collaboration.
- Must be able to read, write and understand safety plans, rules, maintenance instructions, training manuals, Material Data Safety Sheets (MSDS), maintenance bulletins and procedure manuals.
- Must be able to effectively operate the company’s computer-based applications/software and aircraft maintenance tracking programs, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Outlook.
- Must maintain high standards of performance for self and others; demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement in all aspects of the business; monitor, teach, coach and mentor the maintenance team.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- High organizational, time management and logic skills required
- Ability to work at a desk in an office environment for extended periods of time
- Availability during nights, weekends, & holidays as needed. Must be capable of maintaining a flexible schedule, including the willingness to occasionally work extended hours as per project demands and organizational needs.
