Position Description
We are seeking a UAS Flight Operations Lead that has experience as a UAS pilot and as a UAS trainer to join our team in Hampton, VA. The UAS Flight Operations Lead will be responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day flight operations of AAC's unmanned aircraft systems. This includes coordinating and conducting flight tests, ensuring compliance with FAA regulations and other relevant industry standards, analyzing and reporting flight data, and coordinating with other team members to optimize system performance and reliability. This role will also serve as the customer demonstration pilot, create AAC’s training curriculum, and lead customer operation and maintenance training for the UAS.
Additional Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations, including flight test scheduling, inventory management, fleet management, and quality control.
- Collaborate with engineering and program management to streamline processes and improve cross-functional communication of product development roadmap.
- Maintain a safe working environment by enforcing safety policies and procedures.
Position Requirements
- 5+ years of work experience operating and servicing UAS.
- Holds FAA Part 107 license.
- Strong knowledge of unmanned aircraft systems and flight operations
- Experience in conducting flight tests and analyzing flight data
- Genuine belief safety is the first priority
- Able to travel as needed. (1 trip per month would be typical)
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines

- US Citizen or Permanent Resident (Our UAS is export controlled)
Bonus Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience
- Military Veteran
- Experience in the defense industry.
- Experience with multiple military UAS
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Holds FAA Private or Commercial pilots license.
- Enjoys teaching and training others about UAS.
- Demonstrates passion for this discipline by owning their own drone (aka small UAS, FPV racer, RC airplane, etc.)
